The energy of this full moon acknowledges the stillness that comes after the celebrations of the Winter Solstice, and also the returning energy of the earth, bought on by the increase of solar energy, with the lengthening of days. This is seen in nature by the beginnings of new growth, and an increase in the activity of birds and animals.
For us it is an opportunity to utilise this lunar energy, and cleanse ourselves of past regrets and negative influences or actions.....to purify ourselves, for new growth. Traditionally it is a time for forgiving past debts, and reconciling differences, so with this in mind we can open the paths ahead. It is a good time to work on private and personal matters too. Once this cleansing is done, we too like the earth can focus on this year's new growth, and the paths, plans, and intentions we have chosen to follow.
Goddess of the dark night sky, bless me,
Shroud me in your silver light,
Mother Moon please honour me with your wisdom,
I am your humble lunar child.
